Meet Lynn King

► From: Kyden, KY
► Started Running: 2010, at age 34
► 🤍s to run Lake Hollingsworth to see everyone's smiling face

The Lakeland Runners Club exists to promote running and fitness for runners of all ages and abilities in the community. We are led entirely by volunteers, and in each newsletter we’ll introduce you to the board members that lead LRC. Lynn King has been a dedicated volunteer for the race planning committee since 2017 helping to execute the Watermelon 5k Series and Lake to Lake 10k. Lynn also served as secretary in 2019.  Lynn has also coordinated the Tuesday night Pub Run for the local shoe retailer since 2019.

What is your favorite thing about being connected to LRC?
Having fun, meeting new people, swapping injury experiences, and learning new things about the sport every day.  Finding like-minded individuals who are as passionate about running as you are is amazing!  One of the best LRC experiences was going from runner to volunteer to race director in a very short period of time.

Why do you serve on LRC?
Being a part of the club has done so much for me on a personal level, serving on the board is my way of giving back and saying “Thank you”!

What is your favorite running memory?  Well, you never forget your first 5k, 10k, half marathon, full marathon or even your first ultra (so much ice and sunscreen LOL). But I think making the memories is equally important! Even better is making those memories with my running family.  I have met some wonderful people through LRC who I love dearly and consider family (ACEKT ♥️).  I look forward to making more memories with them.

What is something most people don’t know about you?
I was extremely quiet and introverted for most of my school-aged life.  We are talking wall flower here folks!  But thanks to running I’ve become the perky, fun-loving personality, I am today.  Bwahahahaha!
