Santa’s Run for Our Kids 5k run/walk, 10k, Kids’ Sprint

Santa’s Run For Our Kids 5k, 10k, Kids’ Sprints” is in its 5th year.

The event is organized by The Winter Haven Optimist Club, Bob Custer as Chairperson. The race route is somewhat varied, commencing in Winter Haven Central Park, down to Lake Howard, around to Lake Cannon and Lake Mirror, back to Lake Howard and home to Central Park. It’s essentially the old Citrus Classic back in a day ( 12 years ! ).

Registration opens at 6 am. The 10k starts at 7 am, the 5k at 8:20, and the kid sprints ( different age group = different distances) start at about 9:15.

There will be upbeat Christmas music, fruit, and other food items. Not sure about vendors at this time. CDC guidelines will be strongly encouraged. There will be a staggered start with proper social distancing. The event is chip timed.

There is no celebration afterward and awards may be picked up immediately after the last RUNNER finishes. Awards are 1,2,3 in typical 5 year age divisions (0-9) to 80+, Overall male and female, Masters male and female. There will be shirts and finisher medals for all. Kids will be awarded trophies in each age division (B & G, 1st, and 2nd).
