The Mayfaire 5k, which is held in conjunction with the Polk Museum of Art’s Mayfaire by-the-Lake art festival is postponed. We plan to host the 5k when the art festival is rescheduled, or hold it independently if the art festival is cancelled.
Be safe, follow the recommended guidelines to stay healthy, and we’ll run again together soon.
We appreciate your patience waiting for an update on the 2020 Mayfaire 5k because of the coronavirus outbreak. The Mayfaire 5k is held in conjunction with the Polk Museum of Art’s Mayfaire by-the-Lake art festival. The art festival was officially postponed on March 17, and a new date has not yet been released. The Mayfaire 5k is a wonderful gathering of our community to celebrate running and kicks off the club’s series of races over the next several months.
We are a nonprofit organization and our mission is to promote running. It is heartbreaking that we have to postpone the 5k and recommend that we distance ourselves from each other during this time. We encourage you to reach out to us and each other for motivation to continue running.
We rely on the incredible number of people who support the club and our events by being a participant, volunteer or sponsor year after year.
Registration remains open, and all registered participants will be emailed updates as they develop. Once the new date is selected, we will offer the following options for our registrants who can’t run on the new date:
A. Transfer to another of our 2020 races
B. Transfer your registration to another individual
C. Donate your registration to the Lakeland Runners Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
D. Request a refund. We realize that just as the coronavirus has placed a financial strain on our organization, that may be the case for you as well. We hope you’ll join us at another Lakeland Runners Club event in the future.
Thank you for your patience and understanding,
Roxanne Youngs and Byrl Arnold
