LRC SAFETY PLAN
HOW WE RACE SAFE IN 2021
The Lakeland Runners Club is committed to creating a safe and exciting race experience for our participants, volunteers, timing contractors, community partners, and everyone else who makes race day possible.
Thank you for your cooperation and we are looking forward to racing with you in 2021!
- Stay home if you are sick or have been in contact with someone who is sick within 10 days prior to the race.
- Wear a face-covering indoors, and have one available if you cannot maintain separation before or after the race.
- Come prepared. Read all race instruction emails.
- Celebrate at home. There is no award ceremony.
DETAILS - Corrals
All participants will be assigned a corral. This corral will be clearly visible on your bib. Corral markers and volunteers will help ensure you start from your assigned corral.
If you MUST start with a family member, make sure everyone enters the same “estimated finish time” during registration and then send a separate note to the LRC that includes the race name and the first and last names of the group that needs to be placed together.
DETAILS - Timing
The race is chip timed, which means that your personal time will be recorded from when you cross the start and finish lines. You must wear your bib (race number) on the front of your person so it is clearly visible. Do not wear it on your back or on the side.
There will not be any delays between corrals, and the width of corral will limit starters to two or three simultaneously. The number of entries in each corral will be limited so that social distancing can be maintained before the race and moving forward to the start line.
DETAILS - Awards
All awards will be based on chip time – even overall awards. Anyone who registers on race day will be placed in the last corral, so everyone must finish the race before awards can be calculated.
Awards will be presented to male and female overall, masters, and grandmasters. Age group award winners will be notified and their award will be available to pick up the week following the race.
Awards will not be mailed.
DETAILS - Registration
Registration will close for the two days prior to packet pick up for the volunteers to prepare bibs, shirts, and medals for participants.
Anyone who wants to register on race day must register in-person at the designated packet pick-up location. Race day registrants will be placed behind the last corral – no exceptions.
DETAILS - Packet Pick Up
To allow for social distancing and to ensure all race participants have adequate time to pick up their packets, registrants will select a packet pick up time slot.
The location for packet pick up is given during registration and these details will be part of the race instruction email.
DETAILS - Aid Stations
You should train and prepare as if there will be no water available on the course.
If guidelines change between now and race day, pre-poured water in paper cups would be available.
DETAILS - Post Race
Water and a snack will be available after the race.
At this time, we are encouraging everyone to leave when they finish the event, and if you need to wait for a family member, to do so a reasonable distance from the finish line, socially distanced from other people, and to wear a face covering.
These guidelines are for Lakeland Runners Club events:
