Our wonderful group of volunteers did another outstanding job of helping us put on a great event. Always remember, no matter where you race, thank a volunteer!

The threat of rain loomed all around us this morning as we prepared for the second race of the Summer Sunrise Watermelon 5K Series presented by MIDFLORIDA, but we were lucky and the storms stayed at bay. Nearly 700 finishers crossed the finish line on this gray and humid morning and then helped themselves to ice cold watermelon courtesy of Global Produce. Race photos should be available in the gallery section of the website in the next couple of days so keep checking back and below is a link to the results of race #2.

MIDFLORIDA Mayfaire 5K Preparations

0

There are only a few short days until the 2012 running of the MIDFLORIDA Mayfaire 5K. As always, this is our spotlight event and the entire club, city and running community are looking forward to it. As the co-race director, I can tell that this is not like the other races we put on. There are so many more “I”s to dot and “T”s to cross. Milton Lyons, the other co-race director, and I both have multiple pages on our checklists and talk each day to make sure we are not missing anything.

We are trying a couple of new things with the Mayfaire pictures this year. We will have our traditional finish line photos, but we are also going to have pictures from 3 different locations on the course. With out new website this year, my hopes are to list the finish line pictures in smaller galleries based on finish times. If you finished in 29 minutes and want your photo, you hopefully won’t have to wade through hundreds and hundreds of pictures before getting to yours. This will be something new so cross your fingers it works out the way I have planned. Also, please be patient with when the photos will be on the website. The day after the race is Mothers Day so I will not be doing anything with them then, but I will get them posted just as soon as I possibly can.

We look forward to seeing everyone down at Lake Mirror this Saturday and remember to wear your new LRC shirt if you have picked it up from FITniche.

Happy Running,

Bryan Graydon
