We offer three training programs led by RRCA certified coaches for our community.
- Our Spring Ahead 5k Training Program is a 10-week program offered in the spring and designed for beginners to gradually build up their running ability so that they can complete a 5k (3.1 mile) race. This group meets on Saturdays at Publix Charities Park.
- Our Kids Running Program is for children aged 5 and up. This program meets at the Lakeland High School Track on Tuesdays at 5:15 PM during the school year.
- Our Middle School Development Program is for 5th through 8th graders. This program meets at various locations in Lakeland on Tuesdays at 6:00 PM in summer, and then moves to the Lakeland High Track once school starts. This program builds skills for cross country, or general endurance running. The program wraps up each year at the end of October after the middle school state CC meet.
Positive & Safe Sport Environment
The Lakeland Runners Club is committed to offering safe programs and events for youth. Our volunteers are trained to protect athletes from abuse. Our programs are designed for athletes to enjoy welcome, respectful environments and diversity is actively embraced. At any age, our mission is for athletes to use the skills they’ve learned to contribute to the well-being of their communities.
Additional Resources for Parents
Designed for the parents of athletes of all ages, this COURSE explains the issues of misconduct in sport and helps parents ensure their children have a positive and safe sport experience.
